RHYMES FROM THE REAL MOTHER GOOSE, Volume 3
Illustrated by Blanche Fisher Wright
Jack Sprat could eat no fat,
His wife could eat no lean;
And so, betwixt them both,
They licked the platter clean.
OLD WOMAN, OLD WOMAN
There was an old woman tossed in a basket,
Seventeen times as high as the moon;
But where she was going no mortal could tell,
For under her arm she carried a broom.
Old woman, old woman, old woman," said I,
Whither, oh whither, oh whither so high?"
"To sweep the cobwebs from the sky,
And I'll be with you by and by."
PEASE PORRIDGE PUDDING
Pease porridge hot,
Pease porride cold,
Pease porridge in the pot,
Nine days old.
Some like it hot,
Some like it cold,
Some like it in the pot,
Nine days old.
