THANKSGIVING POEM

A Fowl So Fair A pensive girl was quite dismayed, To think of turkey on Thanksgiving day. She wondered how we could be so crude, To think of this creature as nothing but food. She admired his style, his winsome face, To chop it off would be a disgrace. She dared not think of this bird’s fate: To be a meal on someone’s plate. She vowed when it was time to eat, To feast on fruit and skip the meat. Before the feast she’d say a prayer, To honor the memory of this fowl so fair. Funny Bird A turkey is a funny bird, Its head goes wobble, wobble, All it knows is just one word, "Gobble, gobble, gobble." Thanksgiving The year has turned its circle, The seasons come and go. The harvest all is gathered in, And chilly north winds blow. Orchards have shared their treasures, The fields, their yellow grain, So open wide the doorway. Thanksgiving comes again!
